However, thanks to Ritual Union, the band's third studio album, they're now popular enough to pack out the 2,000-capacity O2 Shepherds Bush Empire - and it's easy to see why.On record, their ambient electropop can sound a little lightweight but live the band are a different beast entirely. That's thanks largely to their magnetic front woman, Yukimi Nagano. Whether whacking out a rhythm on a drum machine or high-fiving the front row christian louboutin online, she gave these ethereal songs a pulsing physicality. Strutting onto the stage to the sound of a cowbell cheap mlb caps, Nagano launched into Looking Glass, backed by funky beats and rubbery basslines. Ritual Union followed on a wave of synths and echo-drenched vocals, before After The Rain veered left into jazzier territory.There were nods to Portishead in the nocturnal intimacy of tracks such as Crystalfilm, while Precious's strobe lighting and clubland beats made this feel more like a dance gig than a rock concert. When the five-piece delved deeper into their back catalogue, attention shifted from the stage to some of the unique dancing being offered by some of the trendier-than-though clientele. Yet it was a thoroughly undanceable encore of Twice that stole the show. The sparse, haunting piano-ballad proved that there's substance here to match the undoubted style: a perfect end to a thrilling night in the Dragon's den.
