14. Timber Industry on the Minjiang River

Dense forests cover the upper reaches of the Minjiang River. The area produces plenty of timber and tea leaves. Nanping city at the head of Minjiang River has long been an important distribution center for timber and tea. (left) Up to the 1950s, one could still see the unique temples and civilian residences on the upper reaches of Minjiang River, which, together with the calmly flowing river water and the rafts on the river, compose a harmonious picture of human and natural coexistence. (middle) The development of rail, road and air transportation has left a trace of depression with this largest stacking ground and distribution center of its time at the upper reaches of the Minjiang River basin.
