15. Mingcui Pavilion in Nanping
Nanping is the starting place of Minjiang River. It is a thoroughfare in northern Fujian. Built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) close to steep rocks, the Mingcui Pavilion (left) overlooks the Minjiang River and is known as the "No.1 Pavilion in Northern Fujian". The pavilion rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911) was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). The existing Mingcui Pavilion (right) is a Buddhist sacred land at the upper reaches of Minjiang River. A children¡¯s amusement park has also been constructed at the riverside.
